Today I want to shine a light on the damage that diabetes can cause to your heart and vitamin C can curb this damage.
Once you’re diagnosed with diabetes, your chances of dying from heart disease shoot through the roof.
Even though you can’t see it, it’s by far the worst of the damage you can experience if you’ve got diabetes.
But African researchers have proven there’s a simple way to help protect your ticker.
And it’s as simple as loading up on vitamin C, one of the most powerful antioxidants around – even if you’ve got YEARS of diabetes damage.
In the study, scientists looked at the effects of vitamin C on high glucose levels in the blood.
You see, when your blood sugar spikes (as it does when you’ve got type 2 diabetes), it reacts with proteins in your body to form what are known as advanced glycation end products (AGEs).
Now that’s a mouthful, for sure – but what you need to know is that these AGEs cause serious long-term damage to your heart.
But researchers found that regular vitamin C supplements not only blocked the formation of AGEs, but they also reduced their levels by up to 28 percent.
And fewer AGEs means less chance of potentially deadly heart failure or a heart attack.
If you’re not already supplementing with vitamin C, now is a great time to start, even if you don’t have diabetes. Aside from protecting your heart, it boosts your immune system and is crucial for bone and joint health.
As well, this is a good time to make sure you’re getting enough sleep. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you may be putting yourself on the fast track to developing diabetes, as studies have found that sleepless nights can turn into a blood sugar problem.Wishing you the best of health,
