Protection against radioactive radiation

We’re all exposed daily to background radiation from radioactive elements in the earth and cosmic rays from space. And as you may know, long airline flights increase radiation exposure as well.

Fortunately, we have two botanicals that offer protective benefits against radioactive radiation.

In a clinical trial, Ginkgo biloba neutralized genetic damage in Graves’ disease patients treated with radioiodine. A daily dose of 120mg of Ginkgo significantly reduced levels of micronuclei in lymphocytes compared to placebo. A similar effect was seen in a trial where the same Ginkgo dose was given to Chernobyl accident recovery workers.

The other botanical is berberine.

This phytochemical is a natural anti-inflammatory that researchers have also put to the test in clinical trials. At 900mg per day, Berberine reduced the incidence and severity of radiation-induced intestinal syndrome in patients treated with radiation for various cancers.

These supplements will minimise radiation damage for those who want to protect themselves against environmental exposure to radiation. Dr. Wright recommends that, for cancer patients, Ginkgo and berberine should not be taken 24 hours before and after radiation treatments. And of course consult with your own doctor about what’s best for you.

Wishing you the best of health,
