Lyrica linked to birth defects

There are many milestones to look forward to over the course of your life.

Weddings, graduations, jobs… but nothing really compares to the birth of a child.

We all want our children and grandchildren to come into the world healthy. But, in lots of cases, Big Pharma gets in the way.

There are now literally dozens of drugs linked to truly horrifying birth defects. And a new study just published in Neurology has just exposed another potentially dangerous med that all mums-to-be need to know about.

I’m talking about Lyrica (pregabalin), a drug commonly prescribed for nerve and muscle pain, and fibromyalgia.

It’s has been previously linked to vision problems, unexplained swelling, heart conditions, muscle pain, and even suicidal thoughts.

And now, this latest study – which included data on pregnant women from seven different countries – found that women taking Lyrica were THREE TIMES more likely to have a child with birth defects.

What’s worse? Mums taking Lyrica were also SIX times more likely to have a child with a central nervous system birth defect, like spina bifida.

Lyrica can even send your risk of a stillbirth through the roof.

And that’s absolutely heartbreaking to me, because there are natural alternatives to drugs that can help manage pain without endangering the life or wellbeing of an unborn baby.

Acupuncture, for example, is a centuries-old method for treating pain… and, when performed by a certified medical acupuncturist like myself, it’s perfectly safe during pregnancy.

It’s even been used to alleviate the pain of actual childbirth!

Magnesium can also help alleviate chronic pain and fatigue, like the kind you experience with fibromyalgia. A warm Epsom salt bath is a safe and relaxing way to relieve those aches and pains, as the skin can absorb the magnesium right from the water.

As another option, most pregnant women can safely take up to 300 mg of magnesium supplements daily, but they should always consult their doctors before starting any supplement plan.
