If you want to know how much money companies can make from you when you’re sick, just take a gander at Google.
Because the company whose search engine can answer life’s most burning questions is suddenly targeting diabetes as its next cash cow.
Instead of helping to fund research to develop a safe and effective treatment for this highly profitable disease, the company has developed an expensive way for you to measure your blood sugar: high-tech contact lenses that measure the glucose levels in your tears.
It’s the perfect business opportunity for this global business giant. You see, diabetes is big business for the companies currently capitalizing on it – like Google’s new partner, the pharmaceutical giant Sanofi, which earned over $7 billion in revenue in diabetes treatments in 2014.
But the truth is if you have type 2 diabetes, you can stop it dead in its tracks — and perhaps even reverse it.
The best way to control your diabetes is by eating a proper high-protein diet with plenty of nutrients, getting lots of exercise, and regularly getting a good night’s sleep.
Here are some simple low-tech tools to help control your blood sugar:
- Magnesium: The often-overlooked mineral performs more than 300 functions in the body, and can turn back the clock on diabetes.
- Curcumin: In a study out of Thailand a few years back, 240 pre-diabetics were given either a curcumin supplement or placebo. Nine months later, 1 in 6 patients on the placebo developed diabetes, but none who took the curcumin supplement.
- Fish Oil: Fish oil can help improve your insulin sensitivity, another critical marker of risk.
- Chromium: In one major review, 13 of 15 studies found chromium can provide a significant improvement in blood sugar control.
Diabetes doesn’t just show up out of the blue. It’s a slow-motion car crash, the kind you can see coming from miles away, and years ahead.
The good news is it’s not too late to slam on the brakes and stop the disease before it picks up speed.
Wishing you the best of health,Dr. Glenn S. Rothfeld
